World Awareness Club
The World Awareness Club meets Fridays at lunch in Room J-202.
Purpose:
- Works tirelessly each year to raise awareness on our campus about an issue of our choice.
- Works to raise money and awareness through a "World Awareness
Night" in which we showcase Piner Bands, sell goodies, and present
information about our topic in our audience. This year's focus is the
drug cartel violence affecting the border region of Mexico and the
United States. Previous topics have included:
- the spread of the AIDS virus
- how Iraqi civilians were affected by the Iraq war
- human trafficking
- the genocide in Darfur
- Use the money we raise in the first semester at World Awareness Night to bring a speaker to campus
- speaker is here at Piner for two days
- English and History classes are invited to attend the presentations
We would love for you to join us in our efforts to bring awareness of these very important issues to our campus and our community!
